How accurate is Stelo?
Stelo glucose data has proven to be 93% accurate1* when compared to a gold standard laboratory blood glucose test, making it the most accurate biosensor available without a prescription. As a medical device company, Dexcom follows rigorous standards and testing protocols, ensuring accuracy you can have confidence in.
Want more detail? When we say Stelo is 93% accurate1*, that means 93% of readings falling within 20/20% YSI (yellow springs instrument) test, considered to be the most accurate way to test glucose. 20/20% YSI is a criterion for assessing accuracy and states if a lab result is greater than 70 mg/dL, the Stelo value must be no more than 20% higher or lower from the reference value and if the lab result is less than 70 mg/dL the Stelo value must be within 20 mg/dL of the reference value.
For example, if a lab measured value reads 100 mg/dL, as long as your Stelo has a reading between 80 and 120 mg/dL, anything in this range is considered accurate. It's important to note that the Stelo Glucose Biosensor, and all continuous glucose monitoring systems have accuracy ranges in which they are considered accurate. It’s not helpful to compare Stelo to blood glucose meters or other glucose tracking solutions as they each have a different margin of error. But you can trust that Stelo is the most accurate biosensor1 available with the data to prove it.
